Gary Varsho had a short Major League career, spending his 8 years as corners outfielder playing mostly off the bench, and only twice playing in more than half a season's games twice.  He finished out his career with the Phillies in '95, he retired after the season.

In 2002 Varsho returned to the Phillies as a bench coach for the Larry Bowa-era Phillies.  Varsho earned a field promotion at the end of the '04 season when Bowa was fired after 160 games.  He did stay on as a coach for the first two seasons of the Charlie Manuel administration.

Gary and his wife Kay had their first son, Daulton in 1996.  Daulton is a catcher in the Arizona Diamondbacks' system.  He represented the D-backs in this season's All-Star Futures' Game.  I don't know this, but I'm assuming that Daulton was named after former Phillies' catcher Darren Daulton.

Darren Daulton was the Phillies' poster boy for quite a while.  He was the anchor of the team, and drew quite a bit of attention from female Phillies fans until he passed both of those torches on to Mike Lieberthal.  Daulton continued to be a favored Phillies' alum right until we lost Dutch to brain cancer in 2017.

None of that is really here nor there.  To bring it back around.  Gary Varsho is the second Phillies manager and the 25th player to send back signed custom cards for the Phillies TTM Frankenset.  Take a look at all those returns right here.
