Cape Cod League: Cotuit Kettleers Roll to Championship



The Cotuit Kettleers won the 2019 Cape Cod Baseball League championship yesterday with a 10-3 win to take a 2-0 series win over the Harwich Mariners.  Cotuit lost just 1 game in a three round march to the club's 17th Cape title.  Cotuit won the opening game of the championship round in a 15-inning 7-6 affair


San Diego State Casey Schmitt (JR) earned postseason MVP honors hitting .278 with 8 hits, 7 for extra bases including 3 homeruns with one in the championship clencher yesterday.  In the regular season, Schmitt went for 5 homers while hitting .245.  He also pitched in 11 games, striking out 26 in 22 innings and posting a 2.45 ERA.

The Kettleers take possession of the Mycock Trophy from the Wareham Gatemen, keeping the title in the Western Division.
